Dear
praying friends,
We have now
been back in Honduras since last Tuesday night, after spending 6 months in Canada.
We arrived exhausted, moved our stuff from storage into our new home,
did some shopping, and got acquainted with our new neighbourhood.
1. Our new home from the outside
2. Muki wondering what we're going to do with all those boxes!
Sunday we
were able to reconnect with our local church. What a joy to connect with our
good friends. We received a very warm welcome from all. We are now starting to feel rested.
We've had some very good news already:
- Our papers are ready for our residence permit, we just need to go into Tegucigalpa to sign some stuff and we will have our cards within a month, we are told.
- Even better, much better: when we left in the beginning of last March, we had seen two new disciple/leadership training groups started as a “second generation” from the group initiated early in 2013. That was exciting. Shortly after arriving in Canada we learned that this had grown to four groups. Now there are seven second generation groups, and at least one of these groups is in training to begin to facilitate third generation groups. This is done with the BILD First Principles courses. It represents what is happening all over the country. This gives me hope for Honduras.
- We now have a new Fellowship International director, Dave Martunnen.
Our
ministry during these two next years will involve
- Continuing to work with and encouraging BILD groups, both on the discipleship/leadership training level and on the “Leaders” level (mostly for pastors at this point).
- Working directly with a church that needs to see a leadership training plan installed. We would work with them for 6 months, to a year at the most, keeping the pastor in the forefront, encouraging him to take charge, hopefully having a group of leaders involved, with the pastor equipped for, and enthused about training them. Our goal is to leave and not be missed.
Please
continue to pray for:
- Safety from thieves and …
- Health (and wisdom to stay healthy)
- Wisdom in balancing the task of training leaders with keeping out of an overt leadership role myself
Thank you
for your prayers and support. We appreciate you.
